Parents by being overly worried, can inadvertently teach kids to worry. Face your fears, do not avoid your fears, if you avoid your fears, children won’t confront theirs.
Have an open talk with your child about their feelings and fears, try to talk in a way that increases their confidence. Reassure your kids that their concerns will not be laughed at. Encourage them and give them a chance to succeed.
Parents should make sure that the kids are not overwhelmed by too many activities. Give them time to relax and work out the time for bed, home work and extracurricular activities, as anxious children like their life to be orderly and controlled.
Be sure that they sleep properly and eat properly. Make sure they exercise, for they exhaust themselves with worry. Exercise increases energy and reduces worry.
Do not let them avoid things they are afraid of, encourage them to take a risk and face the challenge. If you let them stay inside their Shells , they are more likely to develop future anxiety problems.
Get professional help when the child is not able to master age-appropriate challenges such as going to school, a sleepover, speaking in front of the class, attending school or playing with peers. The coping skills they learn early in life, will help them to withstand adult worries.
