Beware of junk food

Junk food not only causes obesity it may be partly responsible for childhood asthma. Childhood asthma has been on the rise for the last few years. A research shows that junk food, passive smoking and lack of exercise as the reasons.
This childhood asthma is more prevalent in urban areas than in rural areas. The reason is rural children do not have much access to junk food and they consume more natural foods like fresh vegetables, fruits, milk and buttermilk. Children in urban areas do not take fruits they drink canned juices and drinks instead of fresh juices. This also causes an increase in asthma.
The shelves of supermarkets are loaded with easy to cook frozen food. Our traditional diet contained fresh milk, lamb, chicken, rice, wheat, vegetables and fruits. But the super markets and the junk food joints and our fast paced life have changed the diet which has lead to the increase of asthma in children.
To prevent childhood asthma it is necessary to take a diet rich in fruits and vegetables. It is in the hands of the parents to make their children take a healthy diet and to avoid junk food. Parents should encourage children to play and do some exercise instead of watching TV, as obesity is another cause for childhood asthma.
